The CCS Group participated in the 76th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA 2026), held from 4–8 June 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference brought together communication scholars from around the world to discuss the latest developments in communication research.
Representing the CCS Group, Prof. Dr. Emese Domahidi, Dr. Jingyuan Yu, and Milin Zhang presented their current research on key topics in political communication and digital media studies.
The presented papers included:
“Old but Gold? Exploring the Interplay of Media and Political Models on Two Social Media Platforms”, presented in the Political Communication Division, which examines governmental online communication across different media and political contexts. This paper is contributed by Dr. Jingyuan Yu, Prof. Dr. Emese Domahidi and Prof. Dr. Bengt Johansson (University of Gothenburg, Sweden)
“Self-Reports vs. Web-Tracking: Measuring Digital Media Use and Sensitivity to Alternative Web-Browsing Preprocessing Strategies”, presented in the Communication and Technology (CAT) Division, which explores methodological approaches to measuring digital media use through self-reported and behavioral tracking data. This paper is contributed by Milin Zhang, Prof. Dr. Emese Domahidi.
“Differential Appropriations of Telegram: Comparing Political Representatives’ Communication on Telegram Around the Globe”, presented in the Political Communication Division, which investigates how political representatives worldwide use Telegram as a communication channel. Three CCS members, Prof. Dr. Emese Domahidi; Christine Wendo King'ang'i; Maximilian Zehring, contributed to this large team global collaboration.
In addition to presenting research, Dr. Jingyuan Yu served as chair of the panel “Identity and Politics 1” in the Political Communication Division, facilitating scholarly exchange and discussion among conference participants.
