"Effective patent and trademark protection for SMEs and start-ups"

PATON | Landespatentzentrum Thüringen at the TU Ilmenau, together with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Erfurt and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, is organizing an information event on the topic of "Effective patent and trade mark protection for SMEs and start-ups" on Thursday, 7 March 2024, from 3 pm to 6 pm. This will take place at the IHK Erfurt, Arnstädter Straße 34. Managing directors, university employees, founders, students, independent inventors and interested parties are cordially invited to attend.

Industrial property rights are essential for companies. They grant them the right to protect their intellectual property and exclude others from exploiting it.

At this free event organized by PATON, the Erfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Patent and Trade Mark Office, experts will provide all interested parties with comprehensive information on patent and trade mark protection. You will learn about the basic concepts of industrial property protection, in particular patent law.

A patent attorney will speak on the topic of the unitary patent for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in Europe, while the German Patent and Trade Mark Office will provide an overview of different types of trade marks - from the classic word mark to new ways of representing a brand. In addition, the implementation of patent protection will be illustrated using a concrete example. In a concluding discussion, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.
