Dr. Monika Bruckmann ist Leiterin der Abteilung Information Intelligence bei der Evonik Industries AG, einem weltweit führenden Unternehmen für Spezialchemikalien.

Sie promovierte in Chemie an der Universität Duisburg-Essen mit Schwerpunkt Polymerchemie. Sie begann ihre Karriere als Produktentwicklerin bei der Celanese Corporation und kam in Kontakt mit IP-Angelegenheiten. Inspiriert von Patentinformationsthemen kam sie als Patentinformationsspezialistin zu Evonik und entwickelte sich zu einer Allround-Spezialistin, die sich mit allen Informationsthemen befasst, sei es zu IP- oder Marktthemen.

Sie ist aktives Mitglied der PDG (Patent Documentation Group), einer hoch angesehenen und engagierten Industrievereinigung, die sich der Förderung von Informationen über geistiges Eigentum verschrieben hat. Sie ist Vorsitzende der WG PDV (Working Group Patent Database Vendors), die als Partner für Diskussionen über strategische Entwicklungen mit den wichtigsten Informationsanbietern fungiert.

I thrive at the dynamic intersection of cutting-edge science, global law, and business strategy. My journey is not a linear path but a powerful combination of disciplines: I am a PhD-level Quantum Chemist turned dual-qualified IP Lawyer (Solicitor/Rechtsanwältin) and an Oxford MBA graduate. This unique hybrid background allows me to translate complex technological and legal challenges into practical, global, "can-do" solutions.

Currently, as Director of the IP and Frontier Technologies Division at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), I lead the charge in defining how AI, the metaverse, and digitalization shape the future of innovation governance. It is, quite simply, the coolest job in IP—because we are actively building the future.

My expertise is built on navigating high-stakes international environments, from managing multi-million dollar patent litigation as a partner in private practice to steering global IP portfolios for industry giants like Sandoz and Mylan.

Christoph Wagner is a German and European Patent Attorney, European Trademark and Design Attorney, and UPC Representative

Dr. Frederik Golks has been the head of the Global Intellectual Property department at Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG in Waiblingen since January 2022, representing the company as a patent attorney.

From 2014 to 2021, he worked as a patent attorney in the Corporate Intellectual Property Department at Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart. Previously, he worked as a research engineer and team leader in the "Energy Storage and Converters" department at Bosch's Central Research and Advanced Engineering division from September 2011.

Dr. Golks began his academic career studying physics at the University of Kiel and went on to earn a doctorate in interface physics/electrochemistry. For his doctoral research, he conducted studies at the University of Kiel and the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in Grenoble. He also holds a Master of Laws in IP Law and Management from the University of Strasbourg. During his studies, he intensely focused on the economic significance and strategic use of intellectual property in a corporate context. As part of his master's thesis, he researched the targeted protection of digital business models through digital patents to systematically secure companies' competitiveness in an increasingly digitalized economy.

Dr. Golks is a licensed patent attorney and a representative before the European Patent Office and the Unified Patent Court.

Dr. Markus Baur works as a Patent Manager in the IP department at BRITA SE, which offers a broad product portfolio: from countertop water filters and home soda makers to specialized filter solutions for the food service industry and water dispensers.

After earning his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Regensburg, he completed his training as a German patent attorney and worked for 13 years at various patent law firms in Munich.

As Patent Manager, he has been responsible for BRITA SE’s global patent portfolio for the past 5 years, including overseeing examination proceedings and evaluating invention disclosures; he advises management and stakeholders on patent decisions and is responsible for litigation, particularly EP oppositions and patent infringement proceedings.

Elisabeth Fink ist seit 2009 Mitglied der Beschwerdekammern des Amtes für Geistiges Eigentum der Europäischen Union in Alicante. Sie leitet die kammerinterne Arbeitsgruppe zur Vereinheitlichung der Spruchpraxis in Designsachen („Consistency Circle Designs“) und ist Mitglied der Arbeitsgruppe „Design Legal Reform“ des Amtes.

Im Jahr 1991 begann sie ihre berufliche Laufbahn beim Deutschen Patent- und Markenamt in München, wo sie in unterschiedlichen Funktionen in der Rechtsabteilung und der Hauptabteilung Marken tätig war, zuletzt als Leiterin der Markenabteilung 3.2 für europäisches und internationales Markenrecht.

Von 2003 bis 2009 war sie Richterin am Bundespatentgericht und dort einem Markensenat zugewiesen.

Henning Hartwig’s practice involves prosecution and litigation of IP rights in the fields of trademark, design, copyright and unfair competition law.

His practice focuses primarily on national and international industrial design law, particularly multinational design infringement proceedings as well as invalidity proceedings before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante and the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg. As the editor of the four-volume casebook “Design Protection in Europe”, the only one of its kind, Henning Hartwig has unique access to unpublished decisions of Community and national design infringement courts throughout Europe. Clients in this field include computer, electronic-games, fitness-equipment and clothing manufacturers. Henning Hartwig was involved in one of the first infringement cases in Germany relating to an unregistered Community design and has coordinated a number of multi-jurisdictional infringement proceedings in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria and the Netherlands.

His other fields include European and national trademark law, unfair competition law and the global fight against product piracy, in which he represents clients in the sectors of consumer healthcare, direct response television marketing and the food industry. In a prominent case before the German Federal Court of Justice, Henning Hartwig was successful in defending a global chocolate manufacturer against claims asserted for injunctive relief and damages on account of alleged 3D trademark infringement and unfair competition.

He is also actively involved in the field of copyright protection, having represented one of Europe’s leading furniture manufacturers.

Er absolvierte den Lehrgang für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz an der FernUniversität in Hagen und verfügt über mehr als 20 Jahre Erfahrung in der Patentrecherche und -analyse. 2013 gründete er in Wien die IPnovation GmbH – ein auf Patentinformation spezialisiertes Unternehmen für hochwertige IP-Recherchen, Patentanalysen und IP-Intelligence.

Michael Felbinger ist spezialisiert auf High-End-Patentrecherchen (Neuheit, Stand der Technik, Einspruch/Nichtigkeit, FTO), Patentanalysen, IP-Monitoring sowie die Ausbildung von Rechercheuren.
