Language certificates for application
When applying for a degree program, the university requires the submission of an accepted language certificate as proof of knowledge of the language of instruction of the degree program.
German or English are the languages of instruction offered at TU Ilmenau.
Language certificates accepted
When making decisions regarding application for or enrolment in a degree program the University will only accept language certificates listed on this website at the time of application or enrolment.
The date of issuance of the language certificate must not be more than 2 years ago.
- Bachelor, all degree programs
- Master, all degree programs except those shown on the right
- Master Electric Power and Control Systems Engineering
Bachelor
When applying for a Bachelor degree program in German as language of instruction, it is not necessary to submit a German language certificate if you already have
- a university entrance qualification according to the German education system
Master
When applying for a Master degree program in German as language of instruction, it is not necessary to submit a German language certificate if you already have
- a university degree according to the German education system in German as language of instruction.
Language level B2 CEFR
Conditional admission - Master
The B2 CEFR language level is the minimum requirement for applying to a Master program. The following language certificates are recognized.
This level does not yet allow participation in the Master program. However, the Admission Office can already issue a conditional admission with this language level.
