On these pages you will find information on the work of the International Crisis Communication Research Group at the Institute of Media and Communication Studies at Ilmenau University of Technology. Our services include research activities in all areas of crisis and war communication, consulting services for organizations and companies as well as the organization of meetings, conferences, seminars and continuing education courses.

In modern society, conflicts and wars are not only accompanied by the media, but increasingly also determined by them. This also applies to organisational and corporate crises. Wars and crises become global media events, while acts of terrorism can often only develop their public impact through media presence. We try to get to the bottom of this problem within the framework of various projects. The focus of observation is on the communication of organizational crises, violent conflicts, terrorism and security policy.

The research group was founded in 2001 by Prof. Dr. Martin Löffelholz. Since 2006 it has been led by two equal managing directors:

  • Prof. Dr. Martin Löffelholz, Head of the Department of Media Studies, TU Ilmenau.
  • Dr. Andreas Schwarz, Head of the Department of Public Relations and Technical Communication, TU Ilmenau

With its work, the International Crisis Communication Research Group also aims to intensify the exchange between experts from politics, business and academia.
