The seminar series was organized by the research group together with the Technical University of Ilmenau, the Islamic University of Bandung, the University of Atma Jaya Yogyakarta and the Indonesian Association of German Alumni. The aim of the events was to work out the relations between globalization, religion and the social role of the mass media. The high number of participants (300 people in total) and the multi-layered discussions among the participants showed that this topic is highly regarded by the Indonesian public. The discussions focused on the question of how intercultural and interreligious dialogue can be established through the mass media.

The symposium, attended by about 150 people, was devoted to selected aspects of crisis communication and democracy development. Its aim was to highlight the conditions and consequences of crises in different national contexts, as well as means of coping with them with the help of the media.
