22nd Thuringian Materials Day at the Bauhaus University Weimar

The Thuringian Materials Day took place for the 22nd time on 11 March 2024.

In keeping with tradition, this day is always dedicated to current issues in materials science. It is a meeting of industry, research institutes and the three universities of Jena, Ilmenau (Institute of Materials Technology) and Weimar. The theme of this year's Materials Day was global challenges such as climate change and the increasing scarcity of resources, which require a rethink in materials research. Thuringia's innovation drivers are focussing on sustainable building materials, recycling and closed material cycles. Two keynote speeches, four tandem presentations, a poster pitch with 16 posters presented and two parallel workshops and an industry exhibition were on the agenda at the "Thuringian Materials Day" industry meeting on 11 March 2024 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

As this meeting is also a place for the presentation of students' work and their qualification projects, the best posters are honoured. This year, the poster prizes were awarded to Juri Walz - MFPA-Weimar, Marius Grad - TU Ilmenau/OTH Regensburg and Edgar Isler MFPA-Weimar/TU Ilmenau.
