Dr.-Ing. habil. Bernhard Haupt
* October 29, 1943, was a member of the TH/TU Ilmenau since 1963. In the section Technical and Biomedical Cybernetics, area Automatic Control, he worked as a scientific assistant. In autumn 1990 he was elected by the Senate as the first Chancellor of the TH/TU Ilmenau and held this office until May 2008.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dagmar Schipanski
* September 3, 1943; she worked at the TH/TU Ilmenau from 1967 to 1999, first as an assistant, later as a lecturer and professor for solid-state electronics.
Prof. Schipanski was Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and President of the TU Ilmenau from 1995 to 1996.
From 1996 to 1998, she held the office of Chairwoman of the Science Council of the FRG.
From 1999 to 2004, she was Minister for Science, Research and the Arts in Thuringia; from 2004 to 2009, she was President of the Thuringian State Parliament.

Prof. Dr. Klaus Erich Pollmann
* September 12, 1940; historian and Professor Emeritus of Modern History;
In 1993, Prof. Klaus Erich Pollmann was appointed Professor of Modern History at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, where he was elected President in 1998. He held this office until 2012.

Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Dr. h. c. mult. Prof. h. c. mult. Peter Scharff
* March 15, 1957, studied Chemistry at the Technical University of Clausthal. After his doctorate and habilitation in the field of Inorganic Chemistry and a visiting professorship at the University of Torun, he was appointed Professor of Chemistry at the TU Ilmenau in 1999.
Between 2000 and 2004, he headed the Institute of Physics.
In 2002, he was appointed Vice President for education.
From 2004 to 2020, he held the office of President of the TU Ilmenau for 16 years.
