About us

The IT Advisory Board is made up of various representatives within the university and advises on matters relating to information and communication (ICT), pursues university-wide IT management and works continuously on the further development of the university's IT strategy. The areas of data protection and IT security also play a central role here.

Scope of the IT Advisory Board

  • Strategy:Develop, implement, and control the comprehensive IT strategy that meets the needs of students, researchers, and employees and is based on the mission statement of TU Ilmenau.
  • Communication and coordination:The CIO Advisory Board communicates and coordinates IT activities within the organization. This includes both support in change management, to avoid conflicts, as well as "political" support vis-à-vis external parties, e.g. ministries.
  • Budget:Takes responsibility for IT budget planning and ensures that IT expenditures are used optimally within the organization.
  • Information Security:Responsible for coordinating with the Information Security team on the development, implementation and control of strategic objectives.
