This function is a feature of the catalogue and no error, and the message appears only then when there ten minutes have passed without any search activities. This timeout protects data in public computers. When a user forgets to shut down his/her user account, it is automatically shut down after ten minutes and the search window is also closed.
You can unhide the recent search (short list) again when selecting the link "search result" in the upper menu bar. You can retrace and have access to your prior searches via the tab "search history". The search queries are deleted by clicking the "cancel" button on the left side.
Titles you would like to look at more closely later can be saved in the clipboard of the catalogue. This is done via "save" in the left menu bar and selecting the button "clipboard", generating a list which you can work on if necessary. You click on "clipboard" in the upper menu bar to have all titles shown which have been saved.

The export functions via the menu item "Save" and via the item "Literature management" sometimes provide different results for the same export formats. For example, when using the export option via the menu item "Save", the author information may be incomplete. One reason for this is that the functions use different source data formats for conversion to the export formats.

The technology used for the export function offered under the menu item "Save" is currently no longer maintained. In future, only the technology used for the export function via the "Literature management" item will be used. However, this new technology does not currently offer the option of exporting several data sets at the same time. Therefore, the "old" technique for exporting under the menu item "Save" is currently offered in parallel. However, this technique could only be rudimentarily adapted to the current data collection.

There may be several reasons. You can search the catalogue via EndNote and transfer the data records found directly into the reference management program. To do this, you need a corresponding connection file, which you must download and save in the EndNote data folder "Connections".

It is also possible to save the hits from the catalogue in EndNote format via the "Save" link in the left-hand menu bar and then import them into EndNote.

Yes, when you have called the catalogue, change the input line of your browser from http into https and load the page again.

Reservations must be directly made from the catalogue using the blue link “Reserve“ on the right side below “Request info“, and when a new window opens, you follow the instructions. When sending the reservation, the current user of the book you desire cannot renew the lending period and must return the book by the time stipulated. The deadline for the lending period is mentioned under “Request info“. Please have a look at the number of reservations. When “0“ appears, you are the first person to receive the book according to the reservation. When you see 1, 2 or even 3, it means that already 1,2 or 3 other users have reserved this book. Please consider if a reservation makes sense in such a case.

In the catalogue below the location and the signature there is the two-line request info is indicated informing:

1. if the medium can generally be borrowed or is part of the permanent reference collection in the library;
2. if the medium is currently available or has been borrowed.

The term

means that the book can generally be borrowed but currently it has been lent to a user and can be reserved via the link "Reserve".

It is only possible to pre-book specific copies, but not titles.

It depends on the lending period, but you should consider that a book may be returned before the expiry of this lending. Furthermore, we have recognized that when dealing with titles with many copies (e.g. in the textbook collection), not always the most favorable copy is reserved, and there may be free copies on the shelf even though you are waiting for the book.

When the book which has been reserved for you is available for you at the circulation desk, you receive an email sent to your university email address and you can collect the book within the next three opening days.

Media from the stacks are marked with a "Request" link in the catalogue. Click this link, enter the user number and password send the confirmation.
A book ordered by 3:00 p.m. is available for you within one hour at the circulation desk in the main library. Books ordered after 3:00 p.m. are available on the following day at the latest.
When the book you have reserved is available, you receive an email sent to your university email address and you can collect the book within the next three opening days.

Some journals located in magazine rooms do not have an "Order" link in the catalogue. To order such a journal, please use our "Delivery Service". The periodical (corresponding volume) is available for you the following day at the latest at the circulations desk.

The Personal reference collection refers to books available at the professors’ desks in the Technische Universität Ilmenau. Users of the library have the right to have a look at the books in such Personal reference collection. When you indicate the "Handapparat" number (e.g. HA 251), you are told where you can find the Personal reference collection and which professor uses the book you are interested in. 

The request info consists of two lines, with the first line showing if the book is borrowable and the second one informing about the current availability of this book. The note "lent till -> Reserve" means that the book has been borrowed and can be reserved on request. The note "Available, please take from location" shows that the book is currently available and can be found on the shelf. Should the book have been marked as "Available" in the catalogue but not be located on the shelf, please consult the information desk.
