On Thursday, 29 April 2021, experts from the energy sector will meet at the German Chapter of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (IEEE PESGermany Chapter) for the "Grid Technology Update" workshop. The latest developments in grid technology will be discussed under the leadership of the transmission system operator 50Hertz and the Thuringian Energy Research Institute ThEFI of the TU Ilmenau. Aspects of both primary and secondary technology will be highlighted. The workshop will be opened by Dr. Anne-Katrin Marten, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, and Prof. Dirk Westermann, Head of the Thuringian Energy Research Institute ThEFI and the Power Systems Group at the TU Ilmenau. Keynote speaker is Dr. Heiko Englert from SIEMENS AG, who will speak on the topic "Convergence of automation standards for electrical grids - edge computing in the grid".
