The first Science Forum of the new year will also be the kick-off event for the new Scientific Year, which we have chosen as "Sustainability" (www.tu-ilmenau.de/themenjahr). We are pleased to announce a presentation on the topic "Out of the crisis with sustainability?" by Prof. Dr. Jens Wolling, Head of the Group for Media Research and Political Communication.
In his presentation, he argues that sustainability as a guideline for action cannot be "ordered," but must be wanted, supported and actively lived by everyone involved. To achieve this, communication is necessary.
As part of the project "CLIMATE network for more sustainability in Thuringia. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)", which is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in the program "Transformation Paths for Sustainable Universities", scientists at the department will investigate over the next three years how the changes required on the way to a "Sustainable Community" can be promoted and realized in practice through communication and whether these communication measures are successful. To this end, a sustainability communication unit will be established at the university. Preliminary work has already been done, but how do we proceed?
All university members and interested parties are invited to exchange ideas and contribute their own perspectives and experiences following the presentation.
