A smart herb bed, a 3D chocolate printer, intelligent parking sensors, exciting computer games and an app for little star explorers - all this and much more can be discovered on Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Digital City Festival on the market square in Jena. The event also marks the start of this year's Thuringian Digital Festival, which will include a total of 16 individual events between June 25 and July 5 (overview at: https://www.thueringerdigitalfestival.de). The aim of the event, which is organized by the Digital Agency Thuringia (DAT) on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Economic Affairs, is to make digital technologies tangible and to engage in conversation with citizens about the future topic of digitization.

We at TU Ilmenau are also taking part! In our Scientific Year 2022 "Smart World", we are presenting exciting research projects on virtual reality (VR), auditory augmented reality (AR) and AI at the Cityfestival - and invite all citizens to participate and talk.

Come by, immerse yourself in virtual future and auditory worlds with VR goggles and our traveling microphone robot , and learn what AI has to do with biodiversity conservation!

We will show you how students at the TU Ilmenau, among others, are already researching these and other topics in the new "Ilmenau Interactive Immersive Technologies Center" (I3TC), combining their engineering studies with "practicING" to include practical and interdisciplinary projects such as the construction of autonomous miniature transporters , and how they can help shape a sustainable, digital future.
