Living on the campus of the TU Ilmenau

On campus, since almost all of the residences are reserved for students in the Bachelor's or Master's programmes, there are only limited options for living for doctoral students and visiting scholars.

A popular address is the International Meeting Centre (Internationales Begegnungszentrum - IBZ) at Ehrenbergstraße 38, which is located directly on the edge of the campus and borders on an area with several small lakes. The IBZ has eight one-room, three two-room, four three-room and one four-room apartment. A seminar and meeting room, washing machines, telephone and internet connection as well as a garden with barbecue and children's playground are also available. The rental period is a minimum of 6 months up to a maximum of 2 years. Bed linen and sheets are provided at the IBZ for a fee.

A second address is the Helios main building in the city area at Professor Schmidt Straße 26. It is located on the small city campus, about 1.5 km from the main campus. Two one-room and one two-room apartment are available, newly furnished and equipped, for short-term stays between 3 and 5 months. Bed linen and sheets are not available in the apartments in the Helios building and must be obtained individually.

The apartments in the IBZ and in the Helios building are in great demand. For this reason we ask you to register early if you are interested.
