Two degree programs at TU Ilmenau have achieved top results in the CHE university ranking: Business Information Systems Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management. This was the result of the currentrankingof the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), the most comprehensive and detailed comparison of universities in German-speaking countries. For the ranking, which has just been published in the ZEIT Studienführer 2023/24, students rate their own degree programs themselves. With their grades for both business degree programs, they catapulted TU Ilmenau into the top group of all listed German universities.

For the current university ranking of the Center for Higher Education Development, the students of the TU Ilmenau were able to award up to five stars in a variety of evaluation criteria for their study program. Accordingly, the universities are divided into a top, a middle and a bottom group for each subject and criterion. In addition to facts about studies, teaching and research, the ranking includes students' judgments about the study conditions at their university. Each year, different subjects are examined, this year including industrial engineering and business informatics.

In the industrial engineering course, students at TU Ilmenau awarded an average of four out of five stars in the summary criterion "General study situation", and even four and a half out of five stars in the business informatics course. The Vice President for Studies and Teaching, Professor Anja Geigenmüller, is pleased with the excellent ratings of the students in the two business degree programs at the university: "The TU Ilmenau is known for the fact that a course of study is comparatively demanding, regardless of the discipline. This makes it all the more important to have consistent study conditions and very good student support. The rating in the current CHE ranking motivates us to continue to maintain and develop the quality of these and all other study programs."

Not only did the students of Business Information Systems Engineering rate the "general study situation" with four and a half out of five stars, they also awarded four and a half stars for the "range of courses", i.e. the breadth of content of their studies and the opportunity to set individual subject specializations. The same number of stars was awarded for the "support provided by lecturers". The excellent support ratio at the TU Ilmenau means that the lecturers are not only always available to students to discuss exercises and exams, they are also available at all times for any general questions and problems. The students of business informatics are also extremely satisfied with the range of "digital teaching elements" with four and a half stars. The flexibilization of studies through digitally prepared teaching elements and online self-learning offerings, as well as the streaming of courses, are valuable additions to the university's overall course offerings. With four and a half stars out of five for "study organization," students of business informatics are extremely satisfied with the accessibility of all their courses. Students also gave four and a half stars in all three criteria in the area of "equipment": "IT equipment","library " and "rooms". They awarded a very good four out of five stars for "practical orientation in teaching", the "introduction to scientific work" and for "support during studies".
