The Post-Doctoral Fellowship Program strengthens the advancement of women in the transition from doctoral studies to a career in academia. The scholarship promotes independent research and the acquisition of teaching experience. In the form of individual funding, it offers the opportunity to define one's own research topic and to further develop one's scientific personality. A special feature of the sponsorship at the TU Ilmenau is to support young female scientists in networking and thus to strengthen their visibility in their specialist community. The scholarship holders are encouraged to actively establish contacts with other groups in their field. Partnerships that are currently being established are to be expanded and deepened. In this way, the TU Ilmenau wants to offer a career springboard.

As part of the call for applications, the scholarship will be awarded for one of the following funding formats:

Start-up funding
The aim of start-up funding is to give female scientists initial financial support in their search for an independent research topic in order to submit grant applications for further funding of this work (according to § 3, (4) of the statutes). Within the framework of the funding, research-oriented teaching experience is to be gained and developed to the extent of 2 SWS per semester in preparation for a university career.

Graduation Funding
The aim of graduation funding is to provide financial support for female academics to successfully complete their academic project (according to § 3, (6) of the statutes). Final funding is primarily used to concentrate on one's own scientific work in order to complete, summarise and appropriately publish the results of previous independent work. Applications for future projects can also be submitted within the framework of the final financing. In addition, research-oriented teaching experience is to be gained and developed to the extent of 2 SWS per semester in preparation for a university career.
