This course offers an introduction into the fundamentals of industrial economics, including, among others, insights into competitive processes, the functioning of markets and entrepreneurial behavior. In addition, possible implications for economic policy are discussed. Various determinants such as market structure, market entry and exit, product differentiation, network effects or uncertainty are examined with regard to their effect on the strategic behavior of firms in order to subsequently answer questions about whether a certain government intervention can improve market outcomes.
