Creating Shared 3D Spaces for VR and AR: Interview with Allianz Thüringer Ingenieurwissenschaften

Professors and researchers from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Technische Universität Ilmenau recently discussed the MetaReal project, which creates shared experiences of 3D reconstructions of cultural assets using VR and Augmented Reality.

They highlighted the project's significant contribution to cultural heritage preservation and education. By enabling visitors to interact with 3D models of cultural assets in a shared virtual space, MetaReal creates a new form of cultural exchange and knowledge-sharing. The team overcomes challenges like authenticity and 3D modeling by using photogrammetry, laser scanning, and developing new algorithms.
