Prof. Dr. Jochen Harant is Professor of Foundations of Mathematics. His research area is graph theory - a field of discrete mathematics with many practical applications. For example, algorithms of graph theory are needed for the construction of integrated circuits, for transmitter positioning in mobile networks, for scheduling in production processes and optimization in traffic and transportation.
