The goal of the study program analysis is the program-related processing and compilation of information from the university statistics, including the number of students, graduates, attrition rates, the number of students in the standard period of study, etc.
The evaluation of modules and courses towards the end of the lecture period offers the opportunity to have students evaluate didactic and technical aspects of the course as well as the design of the module, the workload and the fit into the curriculum. For course evaluations, the university uses the software program EvaSys
The course-specific student debate in the departments offers students from the third semester in particular the opportunity to discuss concrete problems regarding studies and teaching in direct dialogue with the persons responsible for the course. Comments can be made on the conditions of study, on the student's own course of study, and on specific courses. Problems and suggestions for improvement and possible solutions are discussed. Student debates are to be recorded. Measures for problem solving and further development of the study program are to be proposed by the study program committee and decided by the department council. The follow-up of the implementation of the proposed measures is to be checked by the Department Council and ensured by the Dean.
Bachelor's students in their 5th semester and Master's students in their 2nd or 3rd semester are surveyed on how they evaluate their own study program and the overall study situation at TU Ilmenau. Information is collected, among other things, on the course of study, workload, advising services, satisfaction with the course of study, general conditions, and the practical and research relevance of their own course of study. The surveys are usually conducted online and with the support of EvaSys. The results are made available to the university management and the departments.
Students (Bachelor's, Master's) who have successfully completed their studies at the TU Ilmenau and subsequently left the university are surveyed for a retrospective evaluation of their studies. Information is collected, among other things, on the assessment of their own course of study, career entry and employment, and overall satisfaction with their studies at the TU Ilmenau. The surveys are usually conducted online and with the support of EvaSys. The results are made available to the university management and the departments.
The results of the survey of professional practice serve, on the one hand, to assess the suitability of the students or future graduates in relation to professional practice as well as their future professional qualifications. On the other hand, the results serve the continuous consideration of the opinions from the practice in the further development of the study programs. Within the framework of the internship, the students' supervisors in companies and organizations are asked, on the one hand, about their basic expectations regarding the knowledge and skills of students in a particular field and, on the other hand, about their assessment of the students' actual competencies.
All members of the university have the opportunity to contact the Digitale Processes and Quality Management Staff Unit with their concerns at any time via the Quality Management Opinion Box. The event is designed and led by the Vice President for Teaching and Learning. It consists of impulse lectures and exchange formats that enable the participation of all status groups. The results of these events are documented and incorporated into other formats, including the "Lehrenden-Stammtisch" as an informal discussion and working body for teachers at the TU Ilmenau.
The university management regularly publishes the so-called "QM Report" about the essential developments in study and teaching. The "QM Report" is used for reporting to the Ministry, the University Council and other internal stakeholders.
