City Cycling 2026

From 1 to 21 May, we will once again be cycling for a good climate and for health. Join the TU Ilmenau team or set up a sub-team for your department or with your friends!

From 1 to 21 May, the CITY CYCLING event will once again run in Ilm-Kreis. TU Ilmenau is also organising a team.  Whether you are a passionate cyclist or not - all students, employees and professors are warmly invited to take part in the campaign and do something for their own health and a good climate.

Whether for business or pleasure, in Ilmenau or at home - all kilometres cycled count.

Registration for STADTRADELN is now open.

As cycling together is an incentive, sub-teams can also be formed. Teams with fellow students, in the department, project teams, courses, clubs, etc. are welcome to join and compete against each other within TU Ilmenau. All kilometres cycled in the sub-teams also count towards the overall ranking for the main TU Ilmenau team.

Who can take part?

All vehicles that are considered bicycles according to the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO) are permitted. Handbikes, walking bikes or rides with wheelchairs for wheelchair users can also be recorded for STADTRADELN. By the way, the transport of passengers in a cargo bike, bicycle seat or trailer counts for both the person cycling and the person cycling with them.

How to record the kilometres?

During the three-week campaign phase, every ride can be entered online in the kilometre log or tracked directly via the free CITY CYCLING-app . The city of Ilmenau and the Ilm-Kreis will honour the most active teams at the end of the campaign.

More information about CITY CYCLING can be found here https://www.stadtradeln.de/en/ilm-kreis.

We look forward to many cyclists joining us and hope to cycle many kilometres for the TU Ilmenau - for health and for the climate!
