UNLOCKING UB

Escape Game at the University Library

The University Library is showcasing its study space and services in a new way: With two escape games, you can get to know the library in a fun and interactive way. During the game, you’ll solve tricky puzzles and help Professor H. with his time machine.

Part 1 covers the basics of the library and, with its easy difficulty level, is particularly well-suited for beginners.
Part 2 builds on this and teaches the basics of library research.

The story continues from Part 1 into Part 2. However, both escape games can also be played independently of one another.

What's it about?

How do you play?

The escape games are available for free checkout from the Library of Things. They can be reserved, if necessary, in person at the counter or by emailing auskunft.ub@tu-ilmenau.de. The games are free for all library users.

Before the game begins, the person who made the reservation for the group should present their Thoska card at the counter. The players will then receive the EscapeBox containing the starting materials. Please return the box and all materials in full to the counter at the end of the game.

The Games:

  • Suitable for 2–6 people (multiple players can be divided into groups and play at the same time).
  • Available in 2 German and 2 English versions (one each for Part 1 and Part 2).
  • Each game lasts about 60 minutes.
  • No prior knowledge of the UB is required; all you need is a smartphone with Wi-Fi access (eduroam).

If players get stuck on a level or have questions, there are hints available at the counter.
