Project information

The aim of the overall project is the modular extension of the construction of the compact photon source (faint pulse source (FPS)) with the focus of the TU Ilmenau's contribution on the electro-optical interface (E/O). The system is used to generate quantum keys with a high key rate in satellite communication, which is becoming increasingly important in view of new communication links such as non-terrestrial 5G or inter-satellite links.

The FPS architecture successfully developed in the predecessor project “iFPS2”, which is characterized by GHz photon rates, compactness, scalability and high key rates under all security-relevant aspects, is to be fully integrated in the current project and its functionality verified in cooperation with the project partners.
