TU Ilmenau is not only located in the center of Germany and Europe. As a cosmopolitan international research university, it is also a central concern of ours to play an active role in shaping the European research and education area. We therefore maintain long-standing research collaborations throughout Europe and are constantly acquiring new ones. We are convinced that European research at the highest international level can only reach its full potential through intensive exchange. And only together with our globally active partners in Europe we can find interdisciplinary answers to the increasingly complex questions and social challenges of our time.
To promote the green and digital transition, we are developing intelligent sensor technology and data-intensive systems for sustainable mobility concepts and finding new approaches and solutions in IT, for example for the interaction between humans and machines. Joint advances in biomedical technology, in turn, made possible by extensive cooperation with partners in Europe, will help to ensure the best possible medical care for people in Europe and worldwide.
In the alliance SUNRISE, we are also working with eight other universities in Europe on specific topics that serve to implement Europe's sustainability goals. In doing so, we transfer the latest research findings into teaching and to our partners in industry. Conversely, we also address the research needs of people and companies in our region and incorporate them directly into our European research projects. After all, our common goal is to strengthen the respective region so that we are well positioned for the challenges of the future.
Stefan Sinzinger | Vice President for Research and Young Scientists
Raising international cooperation in research and teaching to a new level is the common goal of Prof. Stefan Sinzinger, Vice President for Research and Young Scientists, and Dr. Valentin Ivanov, scientist in the Control Engineering Group at TU Ilmenau. With his EU projects on smart driving systems for sustainable mobility, he has created an open and inclusive experimental space for researchers throughout Europe. To kick off the Scientific Year, they explain how science and society benefit from European cooperation - and what TU Ilmenau has to offer its European partners.
