[SS24] Research Seminar "Implementation of Modern Database Systems"

The sign-up for the research seminar "Implementation of Modern Database Systems" is now possible.   In the research seminar, we want to have a look at current trends from the area of "modern database systems" (e.g., Storage Models & Data Layout, Database Compression, Query Execution & Processing, Vectorized Query Execution, Code Generation & Compilation, Scheduling & Coordination, Hash Join Algorithms, Multi-Way Join Algorithms, OLAP Indexes, Server-side Logic Execution, Query Optimizers, Cost Models etc.) and understand their realization in modern database systems.

Students (INF MSc, INF BSc, RCSE) can now enroll for the Research Seminar "Modern Database Systems" in the Moodle course with registration key 'dbis-hs-ss24'. Registration is possible until 07.04.2024. If you cannot enroll the seminar is likely already full. You can nevertheless ask to be placed on a waiting list by sending an e-mail to marcus.paradies@tu-ilmenau.de

Research

Our research pursues two goals: scalability and performance of datamanagement systems and support for the analysis of big data sources. Our work is funded by DFG (German Research Foundation), the German government, the State of Thuringia and several companies. ...

Teaching

We offer courses on basics and advanced concepts of database systems and database management solutions. The courses are held for both Bachelor and Master studies in the course of the university's computer science programme (Informatik, Ingenieurinformatik and other programmes). Our group is focussed on high-quality teaching and based on the international state-of-the-art in research. ..Teaching
