Image 1: Software development model

The intention of the project is the design of a domain-specific software development model for the design of knowledge-based software components für medical documentation. Knowledge-based in this context shall include all systems operating on the basis of a knowledge representation for information of the user, not only pure inference-based expert systems. The necessary development phases of the model are the analysis of the use of knowledge during domain-specific work processes, the design of a knowledge model (knowledge engineering), the implementation of this model in knowledge-based funcations and the integration of these functions in the technical component of medical information systems. Software designed and implemented following this model shall enable a system to provide necessary knowledge to a clinician directly during medical documentation and therefore resolve knowledge problems in documentation and decision tasks (decision support).
