This course is designed to provide in-depth knowledge of the currently internationally recognized standards of scientific work at universities. The students should be enabled to work scientifically independently. Furthermore, they should be enabled to assess the explanatory value of theories and to apply research methods.

The aim of the lecture "Management" is to give students an overview of the diversity and complexity of the subject of management and to provide them with elementary basic knowledge, also with a view to possibly more in-depth main study courses later on. In addition, a second goal is to present selected methods and techniques of management. Concrete examples will be used to apply the techniques, clarify their application requirements and explain their strength/weakness profiles. The language of instruction is German.

Starting with the summer semester 2022, the lecture "Management" replaces the courses Management 1 und Management 2.

In the lecture "Organization and Corporate Governance" organization is understood as a success factor of corporate management. In this instrumental understanding of the term, the design issues of modern organization are explained. Organizational theory principles are applied to design problems in corporate practice. The language of instruction is German.

The lecture "Motivation and Leadership" deals with the question of how managers can influence the performance behavior of the employees of a company. For this purpose, classical motivation and leadership theories as well as newer approaches of leadership theory such as organizational learning, the management of teams and shared leadership are dealt with. The language of instruction is German.

The aim of the lecture "Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship" is to provide a general understanding of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship and "up to date" knowledge of selected challenges in both disciplines. Both Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship are young disciplines. The former is largely theory-driven, the latter is phenomenon-driven and experiential. In this module, we contrast them and show how they complement each other. The language of instruction will be English.
