Research Group Media Psychology Receives Publication Award of TU Ilmenau

Journal article about sex robots awarded

Every two years, the TU Ilmenau honors outstanding publications by its own scientists with the Publication Award. The prize is awarded in the categories of mathematics and natural sciences, engineering sciences, and economic and social sciences, as well as a special prize for outstanding originality. It is endowed with 2,500 euros in each category. Selection criteria are the international visibility, novelty value and interdisciplinarity of the publication.

 

The Research Group Media Psychology and Media Design won the 2022 Publication Award in the category "Special Award for Outstanding Originality" for an interdisciplinary research review on the controversial topic of sex robots that was published in JMIR (Journal Impact Factor 7.08) and collected 50 citations in just over two years according to Google Scholar. The paper represents a research focus of the Research Group Media Psychology, which is to better understand the significance of innovative technologies for interpersonal interaction, communication, and sexuality.
