Ilmenau School of Green Electronics

The Carl Zeiss Foundation is establishing the "Ilmenau School of Green Electronics" at TU Ilmenau in summer 2024. Within this graduate school, there are twelve full-time doctoral positions (E13, 100%) for outstanding graduates with a strong background in chemistry, physics, materials science, electrical engineering, computer science or mechanical engineering. The Department of Physical Chemistry/Catalysis, together with the Department of Theoretical Solid State Physics, fills one of these positions. The project focuses on the development and testing of self-healing, electrically conductive polymers.

Applications are possible until May 5, 2024, stating the project.

The "Ilmenau School of Green Electronics" aims to make electronic systems sustainable throughout their entire life cycle, from production and operation to reuse and recycling. This approach strives for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electronics that are both harmless to health and conserve resources. The overarching goal of Green Electronics is to minimize negative environmental impacts and conserve our limited resources. Further information and projects can be found at www.tu-ilmenau.de/isge

TU Ilmenau - UniOnline

With his research, Prof. Geitner wants to minimize the impact of packaging waste on the environment, conserve fossil resources and contribute to the establishment of a circular economy:

I want to develop a process in which plastics can be converted for a wide range of applications in the circular economy. I hope this will be possible in 20 to 30 years' time, when the circular economy has become established in Germany and worldwide.

Institute colloquium

In addition to an extremely interesting lecture on NMR spectroscopy of dynamic and catalytic systems, it was above all the personal discussions that made this day a highlight of the winter semester.

Thanks to Prof. Dr. Ruth Gschwind for the informative lecture on the colloquium of our institute.

Congratulations!

Robert Geitner
