This master program is designed consecutive and based on the Mathematics bachelor program. Also graduates from a bachelor teaching degree in Mathematics or from other bachelor studies with a minimum duration of six semesters of a different field, but with sufficient mathematical education, can take these courses.
The master program Mathematics and Business Mathematics can be completed in both majors:
In the main module, Applied Mathematics is mainly focused on mathematical-scientific research in high-tech companies and in other fields, such as Medicine, Biology and Economics.
With this in mind, students acquire a profound knowledge in functional analysis, theory and numerics of partial differential equations and according to the chosen specialisation, e. g. courses in control and optimisation, chip design or coding theory and in scientific calculation.
In the main modules Business Mathematics, in addition to a profound education in stochastic and fundamentals of analysis and optimisation, students are introduced in modern methods of risk management, evaluation of financial derivatives and stochastic optimisation.
Thus, graduates are well prepared for a business job, especially in innovative fields of the financial economy and in management. In addition, the master degree is a profound basis for further qualification leading to a doctorate degree. This is required for a university career.
Janine and Marcel take you on an exciting tour of the campus of the Ilmenau University of Technology and through Ilmenau itself. They describe how they live and study in Ilmenau, give numerous leisure tips and insights into the place of study of the Ilmenau University of Technology and take you to hidden places in the city.
