Bachelor's degree in a similar field
April 16 - October 15 | January 16 - July 15 (International Students)
This master program is designed consecutive and based on the Mathematics bachelor program. Also graduates from a bachelor teaching degree in Mathematics or from other bachelor studies with a minimum duration of six semesters of a different field, but with sufficient mathematical education, can take these courses.
The master program Mathematics and Business Mathematics can be completed in both majors:
In the main module, Applied Mathematics is mainly focused on mathematical-scientific research in high-tech companies and in other fields, such as Medicine, Biology and Economics.
With this in mind, students acquire a profound knowledge in functional analysis, theory and numerics of partial differential equations and according to the chosen specialisation, e. g. courses in control and optimisation, chip design or coding theory and in scientific calculation.
In the main modules Business Mathematics, in addition to a profound education in stochastic and fundamentals of analysis and optimisation, students are introduced in modern methods of risk management, evaluation of financial derivatives and stochastic optimisation.
Thus, graduates are well prepared for a business job, especially in innovative fields of the financial economy and in management. In addition, the master degree is a profound basis for further qualification leading to a doctorate degree. This is required for a university career.
Obligatory and optional courses according to chosen specialisation (e.g. discrete mathematics, analysis and system theory, numeric analysis, optimization, stochastics)
Stochastic processes and functional analysis
Mathematical optional courses (e.g. complex analysis, cryptography, number theory, topology, mathematical logic)
Technical or economical application module (optional course) (e.g. electrical engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, technical computer science, physics, biomedical engineering | controlling, business finance)
