FAQ - IT Services

The activation of the Uni-Account takes place with the aim of being able to use the IT services offered by the UniRZ.
This option is available to collegiats after enrolment in the APC and to students after enrolment in a degree program.

Uni-Account activation details

As an optical visual ID, the student ID card is a component of the multifunctional chip card thoska. In addition, the chip card offers further optical and electronic functions to facilitate everyday study.

Details about the thoska functions

The multifunctional chip card thoska is maintained as an IT system by the IT Service Desk.

In case of technical problems, please contact the IT Service Desk at the UniRZ on campus personally with your chip card.

The staff will check your card. If necessary, you can also apply for a new chip card directly at the IT Service Desk. Unlike original cards, replacement cards are not issued by the ASC but by the IT Service Desk.

Updating the validity imprint on the student ID thoska is a self-service function and requires personal presence in Ilmenau.

The ability to update exists at the validation terminals on campus after successful re-registration. For this purpose, the thoska is erased in the validation terminal and then rewritten.

The update includes the visible imprint and the electronically readable content in the MIFARE DESFire chip of the card.

The current student ID thoska in connection with a valid photo ID is valid as semester ticket.

The semester ticket is not transferable and additional persons are not permitted. Non-use of the semester ticket does not entitle the holder to a refund. Unauthorized changes to the imprint or the data in the chip of the thoska will render the student ID card invalid as a ticket. Students will then be treated as passengers without a valid ticket.

If you present the thoska student ID as a semester ticket, please check beforehand that the imprint of the validity is still clearly legible and has not expired. Otherwise, you will be considered a passenger without a valid ticket and will be required to pay EUR 60.

Therefore, please update the validity imprint of your student ID card at the validation terminals on campus in time. In case of poor legibility, please have your thoska student ID card checked at the IT Service Desk of the UniRZ and apply for a replacement card there if necessary.

If you have lost your thoska, please inform the IT Service Desk at the UniRZ immediately. However, the use of the thoska by the finder cannot be completely ruled out.
