Media Coverage of Child Sexual Abuse

Group Media Psychology Publishes in Edited Volume

Child sexual abuse in families as well as in institutions such as churches, schools and sports clubs is a major global problem. Media coverage, but also posts by victims on social media, help to raise public awareness of this form of sexual violence. But the topic is not always dealt with appropriately and in a qualitative manner. In an overview article, the Group Media Psychology and Media Design at TU Ilmenau investigates quality problems in different media formats such as newspaper articles, stock photos and YouTube videos. The article was published in an international open-access edited volume on media coverage of child sexual abuse.
