The Division of Media Psychology within the German Psychological Society (DGPs) holds a conference every two years. At the MediaPsych 2025 conference, taking place in September at the University of Duisburg-Essen, the Media Psychology and Media Design Group at TU Ilmenau will be represented with two presentations.
First, Dr. Mohseni will present data from his postdoctoral research project on online hate speech, with a focus on bystanders—individuals who witness online hate speech and, ideally, intervene to protect targets. Bystanders play a crucial role in combating online hate speech.
Second, Dr. Stelzmann will present results from the GROOVE project, funded by theBMFTR (Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space), focusing on the development of a scale to measure entrainment experiences. Entrainment refers to the synchronization of movements among individuals, such as during walking together, swaying to music, clapping, or dancing. Measuring entrainment experiences is psychologically relevant because they can foster feelings of social closeness and, in the digital age, can also be facilitated through technology (e.g., synchronized dancing in a virtual reality environment).
