Older adults inspire research project

Media Psychology Group attend the German Senior Citizens' Day 2021

The research project CO-HUMANICS (Co-Presence of Humans and Interactive Companions for Seniors) aims to promote the social inclusion of older adults with the participation of five departments of the TU Ilmenau. It is funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation. In the context of the work package "Evaluation" of the CO-HUMANICS project led by Prof. Döring, project members Melisa Conde and Veronika Mikhailova from the Media Psychology and Media Design Group participated in the German Senior Citizens' Day 2021. The technology development in the CO-HUMANICS project should be user-centered and include the views and needs of older adults from the very beginning.

The German Senior Citizens' Day, which took place online from November 24-26, 2021 due to the pandemic, is the most important nationwide event on the topic of aging in Germany. It is organized by BAGSO, the federal working group of senior citizens' organizations in Germany. BAGSO is a member of the advisory board of the CO-HUMANICS project. With a diverse program of events and a trade fair, the Senior Citizens' Day 2021 offered older people and their relatives as well as professionals a wide range of information and suggestions for a good and also digital life in old age. The insights gained at the German Senior Citizens' Day will be incorporated into the evaluation work package of the CO-HUMANICS project.
