Sexist online hate speech on video platforms

Group Media Psychology presents at WomComRights 2025
ICNOVA, CICANT, and ECREA

At the joint conference of ICNOVA, CICANT and ECREA on women's communication rights (WomComRights 2025) from September 18 to 19, 2025 in Lisbon, Portugal, a contribution of the Group of Media Psychology and Media Design of the TU Ilmenau was presented. The contribution is part of R. Mohseni's habilitation project on sexist online hate speech and is based on five online content analyses of a total of over N = 24,000 video comments. On the one hand, it shows that women receive more hate comments, especially sexist/sexually aggressive ones. On the other hand, the differences are often small, which is probably due to the fact that many hate comments are deleted.
