Digital platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) are increasingly shaping how sexual diversity is represented, discussed, and experienced. A new contribution from the Media Psychology and Media Design Group at TU Ilmenau explores whether these developments foster progress or regression in relation to sexual diversity.
The chapter highlights that online platforms can create new spaces for visibility, exchange, and empowerment, particularly for queer communities and diverse identities. At the same time, it addresses risks such as discrimination, algorithmic bias, and the spread of stereotypical or problematic representations through digital technologies and AI systems.
