Text and image-generating artificial intelligence (AI) tools and AI-enabled chatbots are becoming increasingly popular in everyday life: they are used for entertainment, education and business, as well as for a variety of sexual purposes. However, research into the sexual use of AI is still in its infancy. Therefore, with a Special Section on “Artificial Intelligence and Sexuality” in Archives of Sexual Behavior, we would like to collect current studies that deal, for example, with AI in sexual education, AI-supported sexual counseling, sexual interactions with chatbots or AI-generated pornography.
Archives of Sexual Behavior is the organ of the International Academy of Sex Research (IASR). The Special Section is edited by Prof. Nicola Döring from the Research Group Media Psychology and Media Design at TU Ilmenau in collaboration with other guest editors: Dr. Laura Vowels (University of Lausanne, Switzerland), Dr. Matthew Vowels (University of Lausanne, Switzerland), and Dr. Tiffany Marcantonio (University of Alabama, USA). Submissions are welcome until June 1, 2025.
