Professor Werner Rieder Prize

This year's Professor Werner Rieder Prize was awarded to M. Sc. Arno Bernhardt for his master's thesis „Modellbildung, Simulation und Aufbau eines hybriden DC-Niederspannungsschutzschalters", supervised by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Berger.

The Professor Werner Rieder Award was presented during the evening event of the 58th OVE Energy Technology Conference, that took place from the 6th to 7th October 2021 at Voestalpine Stahlwelt in Linz/Austria. The main topics of the conference were aspects of the energy industry, environmental friendly and innovative technologies in electrical power engineering, and online services for monitoring and diagnostics of electrical equipment.

The award was presented by Dr. Wolfgang Widl as representative of the Association for the Promotion of Switchgear Research.

On the following day, the content of the master thesis was presented to the conference participants in a lecture.

The Professor Werner Rieder Prize, donated by the Association for the Promotion of Switchgear Research, is intended to distinguish young scientists who make a significant contribution to the field of switchgear research with their technical-scientific work.

In 2012, Dr.-Ing. Martin Weis received also the Professor Werner Rieder Award for his dissertation entitled "Charakterisierung und systemrelevante Auswirkungen der Materialwanderung in elektrischen Kontakten von Kleinschaltgeräten", supervised as well by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Berger.
