The present DAAD-funded multi-year project aims at.Continuation and strengthening of the German-Algerian scientific dialogue between the TU Ilmenau and theUniversity Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1/Algeria.

In the course of joint scientific events and discourses, research projects as well as by means of coordinated training, students, young scientists and university lecturers, especially women, from both countries should not only mutually expand their knowledge, but at the same time reflect on the culture-specificapproaches to science and science communication. In this way, they expand theircompetencies for intercultural knowledge communication, especially in the highly application-oriented and business-related field of engineering sciences. Thematically, the focus is on the fields of optics, photonics and photovoltaics. As a result of this university dialogue,master's degree courses will beexpertly modernized and further developed, numerous biculturally applicable teaching concepts and materials will be produced, academic andstudent exchange will be promoted, and joint teaching and research projects will be initiated.

 

Activities

June 2018

Visit of a delegation of the University Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1 under the leadership of the rector the TU Ilmenau.

With funds from the DAAD, better conditions for education in the field of optics could be created at the University of Setif.

 

November 2018

Postgraduate School at Setif University. In addition to university teachers, doctoral students and students of the TU Ilmenau, representatives of the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt will also participate. In addition to specific teaching offers, the event will also serve to get to know each other and to promote cultural exchange. The event will also be enriched by the participation of representatives from other Algerian universities as well as from Tunisia.

 

March 2019

A group of students from the University Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1 in Algeria visits the Ilmenau University of Technology. Over the course of a week, the students were given practical demonstrations of the extensive equipment in the laboratories in the Faraday Building and the ZMN. This met with enthusiasm on the part of the students.

In addition to the scientific training, a cultural program was also offered. Among other things, the Kickelhahn was climbed, the Goethe House in Weimar was visited and a show in the Planetarium Jena was attended. It was a pleasure for all participants.

 

April 2019

Four of the students who travelled with us, including two young women and two young men, will stay in Ilmenau for three months and will complete their master's degree during this time. Thereby you will measure independently in the laboratories of the Faradaybau and es ZMN. We wish them much success!

 

July 2019

Prof. Mohammed Bouafia, university lecturer of the University Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1 has been invited to the Technical University Ilmenau for one month. The aim of the visit is the joint preparation of the defenses of the 4 Algerian students who have carried out measurements for their master's theses at the TU Ilmenau.

In addition2nd Algerian - German International Conference on New Technologies and their Applications.in cooperation with Prof. Krischok, project leader "ILSE", is being prepared. It will take place from 21.09.2019 to 24.09.2019 in Sétif. We wish all participants many interesting lectures.

 

September 2019

The2nd Algerian - German International Conference on New Technologies and their Applications.is over. Participants from several different nations thank the organizers for a smooth running of the conference. Besides Germany and Algeria, there were also participants from Tunisia, France and the Czech Republic. A wide range of interesting lectures was presented. In addition, there was a poster session with over 30 posters - subject-specific discussions included. The cooperation between the TU Ilmenau and the University Ferhat Abbas Sétif 1/Algeria will continue in the future.

Shortly before the conference, the four students who spent a few months in Germany defended their master theses. For this, Prof. Stefan Krischok, Professor of Technical Phsyics I in Ilmenau, traveled to Algeria to sit on the committee. All students graduated with a very good grade and received their certificates during the conference.

 

March/April 2020

At the end of March again several students from Sétif invited to learn some spectroscopy methods in Ilmenau. Unfortunately, the collaboration had to bepostponedthis year due to the corona pandemic.
