Students are committed to early STEM education

The “MI(N)Tmachen!” project brings together teacher training students from the University of Erfurt and engineering students from the Technische Universität Ilmenau to jointly develop child-friendly learning resources in the STEM subjects for primary schools. The starting point is the challenge of integrating digital education and programming skills into the curriculum in a way that is both pedagogically sound and practical. Interdisciplinary teams develop teaching concepts that combine technical content with digital tools such as Scratch or iSpring, which are then tested during experimental days with children. The aim is to promote problem-solving skills, systems thinking and an interest in technology. At the same time, students gain valuable practical experience in planning, implementing and reflecting on lessons. The results are made available as open educational resources (OER) and will be integrated into the study programmes of both universities in the long term. The project creates sustainable synergies between academic disciplines and contributes to innovative, interdisciplinary STEM education.
