10 January: Panel discussion to kick off the Scientific Year 2024 at TU Ilmenau

To kick off its Scientific Year 2024 "Environment and Health", the TU Ilmenau is hosting a public panel discussion on January 10. Five nationally and internationally renowned scientists will present their top-class research activities in the fields of environment and health. They will also be discussing promising relevant fields of research and their prospects for the future. The panel discussion starts at 5 p.m. and admission is free. Clean air, clean drinking water and an intact natural environment are the basis for a healthy life. However, these very foundations of life are increasingly under threat - above all due to the consequences of climate change on the environment, nature and also directly on human health. Scientists around the world are researching new technologies and solutions to investigate and understand the complex relationships between the environment and health - including at TU Ilmenau.

TU Ilmenau's Scientific Year 2024 "Environment and Health" shows that the university is working on solutions for the major social challenges of our time. Scientists are looking for new approaches to preserving biodiversity, developing sensor technology for the high-performance hearing aids of tomorrow or procedures for robotic precision surgery for the effective treatment of malignant cancer tumors - interdisciplinary research that aims to enable people to live healthy, self-determined and long lives.
