TU Ilmenau_Graduate CenterAs a doctoral student at TU Ilmenau, you have the opportunity to complete the certificate "Leadership in Science" in addition to your professional qualification. The certificate certifies that you have completed a total of 120 work units of continuing education. It gives you the opportunity to sharpen your professional profile and to develop your interdisciplinary skills.
In Module 1, you will practice and apply new knowledge and skills in the three development fields
Research & Teaching
Personnel Development
Management
In total, the foundational module comprises 80 work units (WU), which you can earn primarily through workshops and seminars on the aforementioned development fields. Proof of completion of the required WU is provided by the certificates of attendance for the continuing education events you have attended.
Module 2 focuses primarily on reflecting on and integrating the new knowledge and skills acquired in Module 1 into your own work, as well as on actively sharing these insights with your colleagues. You will contribute two different formats to Module 2, each worth 5 AE. Examples of eligible activities include:
attending a career counselling
attending a peer counselling
a peer teaching observation
The examples given are not exhaustive. You are welcome to contribute your own ideas. Proof of completion of the required learning units is provided by the Module 2 reflection form, which you must complete yourself and then submit to the Graduate Center .
Module 3 focuses on applying the skills you have recently learnt to your practical work. Here, too, you can choose from a range of formats, two of which – each worth 15 WU – you will incorporate into the module. The formats are drawn from your day-to-day work. Examples of eligible formats include:
a conference paper
a poster
a paper
supervising a BA or MA thesis
teaching a course
attending a conference
The WU must be submitted via the Module 3 reflection form, which you must complete yourself and then submit to the Graduate Center .
