How can light be used to measure minute distances, lengths, or changes in position—which are invisible to the naked eye—with even greater precision and stability? Scientists in the Department of Nanofabrication and Nanometrology are addressing this question in the project “MELI – Research on Methods for External Calibration in Diode Laser Interferometry.” We spoke with Prof. Thomas Kissinger and Ph.D. candidate Jasmin Ruprecht about their research.
