Overview

Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Diminished Reality as well as other new technologies often require new user interfaces.

Common techniques like mouse and keyboard are in many cases not appropriate and deliver an unnatural user experience.

Hence, the working group researches on novel Natural User Interfaces for virtual worlds. Here we try to develop techniques that deliver a intuitive and effective human-human and human-computer interaction.

Main areas of research are gestures (hand, head, eyes,...), speech and location-based interactions. Further, we develop novel input and output devices, haptic feedback devices, research on tangible user interfaces, multimodality, and collaborative UIs.

Besides the research on NUIs, design techniques (UCD, evaluation), software architectures and prototyping tools, as well as user-centered aspects of virtual worlds (presence, immersion, emotions) are part of our research profile.

ces, multimodality and collaborative UIs are also part of the research.

In addition to the research of new interaction techniques, design and development processes (UCD, evaluation) as well as user-centered aspects of virtual worlds (presence, immersion, emotions) are part of our work.
