Under the theme “What Does Mechatronics Have to Do with Biology and Medicine?”, you’ll experience an exciting mix of presentations, exhibits, and live demonstrations. Explore exhibits at the intersection of mechatronics, biology, and medicine to learn more about the latest developments in this exciting field of research.
Take the opportunity to talk directly with the scientists and ask your questions. See live how a walking vehicle works, and have the experts explain the technical details to you.
You’ll find us in the Newton Building on the exhibition floor.
As part of the "Study Natural Sciences for a Day" event at Technische Universität Ilmenau, pupils were given the opportunity to discover exciting topics, including biomechatronics. The Department of Biomechatronics introduced them to three key topics that have a direct link to practice.
How can machines communicate intuitively with humans? The students learned how biomechatronic systems can help with this.
This section dealt with exoskeletons that have been developed to support people. The students learned how these wearable devices can amplify movements and improve mobility.
Students learned about the function of IMUs - sensors that measure movement and are used in applications such as motion analysis.
In addition to the lectures, there were interactive workshops where the students could try out prosthesis models and sensors for themselves. This gave them not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience.
