Lego® Technic in the world of mechanism and gear technology

Project description

The aim of the project is to make classic mechanisms tangible: For this purpose, demonstration systems are to be built with Lego® Technic, which contain a large number of mechanisms and only one drive each. These demonstration systems should be presented within the course (seminar). Partial mechanisms of these systems should be identified and analyzed in small groups. In order to analyze the partial mechanisms, the first step is to recreate them using Lego® building block assortments and to determine their gear-related variables such as degree of freedom, transfer function etc..

Further questions will be answered such as how the transfer function can be influenced by changing the kinematic dimensions (e.g. link lengths). The focus is on the development and application of knowledge, whereby skills such as the ability to analyze and technical imagination are further consolidated.

Furthermore, the demonstration systems are intended to introduce prospective students to the world of gearboxes and to support students in deciding on their course of study by opening up contact opportunities for those interested in technology.
