Annual Motto 2026 | Mind each other

Under the motto “Mind each other,” we want to use the 2026 calendar to highlight the importance of cooperation, mutual support, and appreciation in everyday work and study life. Each month focuses on a different aspect of working together—whether it's working and learning together, conducting research, or collaborating on projects.

At the university, we are not just employees and students, but also part of a dynamic team that works together, exchanges ideas and learns from each other. By engaging with and supporting each other, we promote a productive and respectful working and study atmosphere that is enriching for everyone.

"Mind each other" is not only a call for mindfulness in our daily life and work together, but also an appeal to strengthen and celebrate the connection to our fellow human beings. Because only together can we make TU Ilmenau a good place to study and work.

February | Promote exchange

As early as the 1970s, the concept of interdisciplinarity gained increasing importance as it emerged in response to the rigid boundaries between disciplines within science. It became clear that complex issues could no longer be solved in isolation within individual disciplines, but that cooperation between different disciplines was necessary in order to gain new insights. Interdisciplinarity thus developed as an innovative approach that broke down traditional boundaries and promoted exchange between scientific disciplines. Today, interdisciplinarity is a quality criterion for degree programs and modern research.

At TU Ilmenau, interdisciplinary exchange promotes innovation. The informal dialogue between students, researchers, and teachers generates new ideas, supports the interdisciplinary transfer of knowledge, and promotes the development of forward-looking technologies.

A list of selected research projects at the TU Ilmenau can be found in the Research section of the TU Ilmenau website. Be curious and find out more about the university's diverse research activities.
