The topic of equal opportunities is an integral part of the university's mission statement. This includes observing the principle of gender mainstreaming as well as the targeted promotion of women in areas in which they are underrepresented.

Gender equality and equal opportunities at TU Ilmenau are seen as an important cross-sectional task embedded in overall social processes. Our mission is to anchor equality in the various levels and fields of action of the university. We aim to remove barriers to enable all members of the university to participate equally in university life in research and teaching.
