E-mail

The UniRZ provides an e-mail service for students of the Ilmenau University of Technology. With the enrollment an electronic mailbox is created automatically. The mailbox is to be used for all university matters.

Email for students

The UniRZ operates a groupware service based on Microsoft Exchange for employees and structural units of the Ilmenau University of Technology. An electronic mailbox, an address book and a calendar for appointment management and coordination are provided.

Exchange

In addition to personal accounts for members of the TU Ilmenau, the UniRZ also provides non-personalized accesses, e.g. in the form of functional e-mail addresses.

Functional mail addresses

The UniRZ supports the signing of e-mails and the signing of documents by issuing user certificates in the form of so-called software certificates.

The UniRZ supports secure login until the introduction of a new 2-factor authentication by issuing simple certificates on the multifunctional chip card thoska+, which are only recognized as valid at the TU.

TUILM user certificates

The UniRZ operates a service for the use and administration of mailing lists. Mailing lists support the cooperation of groups of people and are thus a component of the groupware of the Ilmenau University of Technology. A mailing list allows sending e-mails to a list of members. The list is composed of the e-mail addresses of the members and has itself an e-mail address under which all members can be reached.

The UniRZ provides a central virus and spam protection for all mail addresses.
