Description

Business Information Systems Engineering deals with digitalisation in business, administration and society. The aim is to provide people, companies and public authorities in fulfilling their tasks in the best possible way through the use of information systems. To make this possible, not only technical, but also economic and social expertise is required.

The degree programme enables graduates to actively and purposefully shape the increasing networking and penetration of our living and working environment with information systems. They should be able to design, implement, introduce and use modern information systems on their own responsibility and in interdisciplinary cooperation with computer scientists, economists and specialists from other disciplines, and to adapt them to changing requirements.

The high practical and application orientation and the interdisciplinary nature of the degree programme ensure excellent long-term career opportunities for graduates on the labour market. In addition, the degree qualifies students for an academically in-depth and research-oriented Master's programme.

Content of study

Business Information Systems Engineering is not just about pure programming, but also about IT support for business processes.

I rate my studies in Ilmenau very positively. Due to the small size of the university, there is a relatively relaxed contact to all university members and it is no problem at all to get to know new people and to make connections.

Practice during studies

A high level of practical and application orientation is ensured by numerous courses that take place in cooperation with practitioners, as well as by a specialized internship integrated into the 6th semester.

In the specialized internship, the competences learned during the degree programme can be applied and deepened in a company or a public authority. As an alternative to the advanced internship, it is possible to complete the 6th semester as a semester abroad.

No mandatory basic internship is required before the start of the degree programme.
